Alex and Annisa’s wedding was absolutely the perfect way to kick off our 2019 wedding season. Seriously, it was magic. Annisa and Alex are an incredible couple who met during Annisa’s first semester at UMSL. Annisa had just transferred from another college and was dealing with the homesickness and adjusting that comes with moving to a new city. During one particularly rough day, Alex saw her in the dining hall and came over to check on her and that was it. A friendship started that eventually led to a super sweet, somewhat awkward proposal at Tilles Park during the Winter Wonderland Lights.
During the proposal, Alex’s plan was to light up a sign that said “Will you marry me?” while on carriage ride. Unfortunately, their driver took a wrong turn and Annisa saw the sign before he had a chance to hit the button, which sort of threw the whole plan off. Annisa loved it though and she told me, “If it was this perfect, fairy tale proposal I’d probably be suspicious. Part of Alex’s charm is that he stumbles over his words and can be awkward, because it just means that much more when he says something amazing like “will you marry me?”
After spending the say with this couple, I can tell you there are absolutely no two people better suited to be together. When you see them together, you can tell how happy they are and how important they are to one another. I think the Vance Joy song, “Alone With Me”, which they chose for their first dance, perfectly captured their relationship. The chorus of the song goes “Everything’s good, everything’s just as it should be when you’re alone with me.” And you can see from watching them how much they rely on and support each other. I can’t imagine a better foundation for marriage than that.
The details from this wedding were totally some of my favorite things. I absolutely adored their cat cake topper- any time I find fellow cat people it makes my heart happy! And I might be slightly obsessed with their incredibly beautiful wedding rings, their awesome globe guest book, and the gorgeous cape Annisa wore with her dress. They chose Quail Ridge Lodge in Wentzville for their ceremony and reception and thanks to some beautiful Spring weather, it was the perfect backdrop for their wedding.
Scott and I had the best time getting to know not only Annisa and Alex, but also their amazing group of family and friends who were there to support them on one of the most important days of their life. I hope when you scroll through the images of their big day you get a glimpse of how much love was there that day and how special this wedding truly was. Congrats again, Annisa and Alex! Thanks for letting us spend your wedding day with you!
A big thanks to all the amazing vendors who helped make this wedding possible!
