We stood in the reception admiring how quickly and beautifully the staff at Old Kinderhook had transformed the room. Scott pulled Nick’s phone out of his pocket and asked him if he wanted it back now that the ceremony was over. Nick shook his head and said no, everyone he wanted to talk to was here with him today. It was such a small moment, but it’s stuck with me since then. My favorite thing about this wedding was how present and in the moment Nick and Courtney were the entire day. They were entirely focused on each other, celebrating with their friends and family, and enjoying every moment. In fact, these two were completely unplugged the whole day. Before we even started with portraits, Courtney and Nick handed us their phones for safe keeping and didn’t even look at them for the rest of the day. In a world where we feel compelled to be connected 24/7 it was such an unexpected and sweet gesture. Although, this is completely in line with their character. Nick and Courtney have been so warm and personable since the first day I met them and it’s easy to see why they love each other.
Nick and Courtney were married at Old Kinderhook in Camdenton. If you’ve never been, it’s a gorgeous golf resort with an amazing lodge and even an outdoor ice rink in the winter- a feature Nick and Courtney took full advantage of with a little post wedding ice skating! After a cocktail hour in the Trophy Room, guests were treated to an amazing reception in the lodge, complete with plenty of dancing.
Here are just a few of my favorite photos from that day. Congrats Nick and Courtney on your beautiful wedding!
